Exploring Alternative Energy with Caspar Ammann | Boulder, Colorado After spending time with global warming expert, Caspar Ammann, Rodman is inspired to better understand clean energy options. He explores whether wind and solar could replace the current standards in most homes and looks at the possibility of utilizing a “Solar Garden” as a solution for their family.
Episode 3
Freegan Awesome with Ethan Welty of Falling Fruit | Boulder, Colorado Rodman and Gina experience “urban foraging” for wild-growing fruit by day and dumpster diving by night to get an up-close look at the “freegan” lifestyle and solutions for food waste in the US by volunteering with the Boulder Food Rescue organization.

Zero Waste with Stacy Swank | Denver, Colorado After “green” consultant, Stacy Swank audits Rodman’s office and Gina’s kitchen, they realize they both have room for improvement! For shock therapy, they are taken to a landfill to see the reality of the unconscious, everyday choices made by millions.

Up-cycled Art & Fashion with Kenny Fischer | Pallet Fest – Denver, Colorado Rodman and Gina visit a festival dedicated to transforming used items into things of beauty and purpose. From bike tires into clothing, pallets into sculptures and junk into art, nothing goes to waste at this event!

Alternative Building – Simply Small with Brian Fuentes | Boulder, Colorado Working at simplifying their lives, The Schley’s meet with Brian Fuentes – a sustainable building expert who sends them on a tour of three examples of living simple and small. The family weighs in on the tiny home movement and whether living with less could work for them.
Episode 7
Alternative Building – Living Large with Brian Fuentes | Boulder, Colorado Rodman and Gina continue to look at new options for sustainable building including rammed earth paired with used tires,upgrading an existing home to “Net 0” and a straw-bale house that is so airtight, not even the big, bad wolf could blow it down!
